Let’s learn how to make The Crochet Christmas Tree Garland Pattern!! This cute and easy crochet pattern includes mini bobble trees paired with crochet ball garland, and all strung on twine, to create an adorable piece to display this winter. The garland is a beginner friendly project and perfect to display anywhere throughout your home.
The Crochet Christmas Tree Garland pattern creates a fun, two stranded garland, that can be draped on a mirror, banister, or fireplace mantle. The pattern is rated advanced beginner, uses very basic crochet stitches, and works up quickly. You’ll have fun working in the round and learning how to easily create a bobble stitch.
Let’s get started!
Ways To Style Crochet Christmas Tree Garland
Below is an example of how I styled the Crochet Christmas Tree Garland around my fireplace mantel. I used small command hooks in each corner of the mirror and mantel to secure the twine. Simply tie a knot around the hook. I like to create a nice drape by hanging one garland slightly lower than the other. The garland would also look amazing hanging on a mirror or hutch.

The ball garland can be displayed with or without spacing. Simply make as many balls as you’d like and space them how you prefer. The balls slide easily across the twine, and stay in place by themselves. The ball garland also looks amazing on its own, and can be made in any color combination, for any season!

Yarn
The Crochet Christmas Tree Garland is written using Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick. This is a size 6, super bulky yarn. The colors shown are Kale, Starlight, and Cranberry.
Wool Ease T&Q offers many great colors, perfect for Christmas and Winter. A few other colors I like are Red Beacon and Fisherman.
Below are the suppliers I recommend:
Lion Brand Yarn
Amazon

Alternative Yarn
Feel free to experiment with different yarns, but please note the gauge may turn out slightly smaller or larger depending on what you use. If you change the yarn size of the project, be sure to adjust your hook size accordingly.
Some of my favorite yarn alternatives are as follows:
Cover Story™ Lazy Days Thick & Quick® Yarn
Bernat Maker (2 strands held together)
Lion Brand Yarn Hue + Me (2 strands held together)
Sizing
The Crochet Christmas Tree Garland length is fully customizable. I made 5 mini trees and 18 balls, and the garland fit perfectly on my fireplace mantle that measures 45 inches long. When measuring the twine length, cut it several feet longer than you need, to allow room for drape and hanging.

Crochet Ball Garland Instructions
– Create 18 balls total, or amount desired (I created 6 in each color)
– Beg ch of each rnd does not count as st, work 1st st in same st as beg ch.
Rnd 1. Starting with a 12” beg tail, create a magic circle, ch1, work 6 sc in circle, join with sl st. (6sc)
Rnd 2. Ch1, work 2 sc in each st around, join with sl st. (12sc)
Rnd 3. Inv-scdec around, join with sl st. (6sc)
Fasten off leaving a long tail end. Weave in the beg tail to secure and then stuff tail inside the ball, no need for Polyfil! Take ending tail and weave in and out of the front loops of last round, cinch closed, weave in loose ends, and fasten off.
Adding The Crochet Balls To Twine
Take a long piece of twine (approximately 80 inches) and thread the crochet balls on using a tapestry needle. I thread through the center where I created the magic circle, and push the needle back through the top where I cinched the ball closed. Adjust the spacing as desired.
Set aside and head to tree instructions below.

Bobble Tree Instructions

Rnd 6 WS. Ch1, *sc in next 3 sts, 2sc in next st, repeat from * around, ending with a sc in last st, join with sl st. (11sc)
Rnd 7 WS. Repeat rnd 3. (6bo, 5sc) Fasten off, weave in loose ends, and turn tree right side facing out.
Fasten off, weave in loose ends, turn tree right side facing out.
Adding Trees To Twine
Take a long piece of twine (approximately 80 inches) and thread the trees on using a tapestry needle. I thread through the very top of the tree, under a small piece of yarn. Adjust the spacing as desired After I have the trees spaced evenly, I like to tie a piece of twine in a bow around the top of the trees.
