Uses For The Rainbow Crochet Glasses Case

The Rainbow Crochet Glasses Case Pattern is the perfect fit for eyeglasses or a big chunky pair of sunglasses, but it can also be repurposed for various other items. The functional construction makes it a practical and stylish accessory for organizing different items on-the-go!

Here are a few of my favorite uses:

  • Crochet on-the-go pouch, to hold a few crochet hooks, scissors, tapestry needle, etc.
  • To hold Chapstick, lipstick, and a make-up compact.
  • To discreetly hide hygiene products.
  • Use it as a small clutch or cross-body bag. (See alternative yarn options below, which create a slightly larger size)

Yarn

The Rainbow Crochet Sunglasses Holder Pattern is written using Bernat Maker. This is a size 5, bulky, tube style yarn made of cotton on the outside and nylon in the center of the tube. You’ll need four colors total, a small amount of each color for the rainbow (about 16 yards total), and about 40 yards for the main color.

Below are some fun color combinations I made with Bernat Maker, as well as their current color chart.

Yarn Alternatives

Feel free to experiment with different size 5 yarns when working on The Rainbow Crochet Glasses Case Pattern, but please note the gauge may turn out slightly smaller or larger depending on what you use. Remember to use a soft fiber that won’t scratch your lenses.

I also tried the pattern with two strands of Bernat Maker and one strand of Lion Brand Cover Story™ Lazy Days Thick & Quick® Yarn.  I loved the results, they were a bit larger and denser.  The size was perfect as a small clutch.  I also added a cute strap to create a cross-body bag.

Sizing

The pattern is offered in two sizes. To make the larger crossbody style, use two strands of the Bernat Maker held together, or switch to Lion Brand Cover Story™ Lazy Days Thick & Quick® Yarn.

Blocking is not required; however, a light steam may help the piece lay a bit nicer.

– The Glasses Holder measures approximately 7 x 4 ¼ inches and fits a standard pair of glasses.
– The Crochet Crossbody Bag measures approximately 7.5-8 inches x 4 ½ – 5 inches.
