Yarn Suggestions For The Round Handle Crochet Bag Pattern
The Round Handle Bag Pattern is written using Bernat Maker (two strands held together).
This is a size 5, bulky, tube-style yarn made of cotton on the outside and nylon in the center of the tube. The colors shown are Cream, Pink, Acid, and Coral.
Below are the suppliers I recommend:
Amazon or Like To Know It (LTK)

Yarn Alternatives For The Round Handle Crochet Bag
Feel free to experiment with different size 5 or 6 yarns, but please note the gauge may turn out slightly smaller or larger depending on what you use.
A t-shirt yarn would work nicely, as well as several strands of cotton yarn held together.
I tried several yarn alternatives and found the pattern to be versatile with many different yarns. Here are a few of my suggestions, most can be purchased directly through the manufacturer or on Amazon or Like To Know It (LTK):
Lion Brand Rewind Tape Yarn (2 strands held together)
Premier Ribbon Yarn (1 strand)
Bobbiny 3mm or 5mm Braided Cord (1 strand, the 5mm works up quite a bit larger, but I loved it)
Sizing For The Round Handle Crochet Bag Pattern
The pattern is available in two sizes:
Mini Bag – 11 inches (across widest point) by 4.5-5 inches tall (not including rings)
Medium Bag – 14 inches (across widest point) by 5.5-6 inches tall (not including rings)

Following the instructions below, you can easily adjust the bag to any size. Please note that slight adjustments will be needed for the seams, but you can modify them as you see fit.
– To adjust the length of the bag, add or subtract from the number of beginning chains.
– To adjust the width of the bag, add or subtract from the number of rows, ensuring you end with an even number of rows.
Handles
The Round Handle Crochet Bag Pattern is pretty flexible, and it can be used with just about any round handle you can find (you’ll need 2).
I found mine on Amazon and tried the wooden and plastic styles, and they both worked well.
The plastic handles measured about 4.25 inches across, and the wooden handles were about 5.5 inches across.

Bag Liner
Crochet bags can benefit from a liner. If you’re comfortable sewing a fabric liner in, I recommend doing so while the piece is lying flat before you stitch the sides together.
You can also find helpful small purse inserts on Amazon that require no sewing.
Screw On Tags
I have a blog post on the different crochet tags I use. The full post with extensive detail can be found here.
For The Round Handle Crochet Bag, I used Ultrasuede, screw on, custom logo tags from Angie & Britt & vegan faux suede seasonal tags from Savlabot.
Note: You’ll also need Chicago Screws to attach the tags.

Written Instructions For The Round Handle Crochet Bag Pattern
– Work with two strands of yarn held together. – Beg chs do not count as st.
– Work beg sc and linked sc loosely.
– When turning your work, turn piece away from you, counterclockwise.
Foundation Row – All Sizes
Leaving an 8-foot beg tail (size mini), or 10-foot beg tail (size medium), join yarn to hook with a slip knot (roll the long tail end up securely, so it doesn’t tangle as you work, this will seam the side up later), sl st around ring, ch24(mini), ch30(medium), sl st around 2nd ring, ch1, turn.

Seaming Sides Together All Sizes
Side 1
– Continue working in both loops
– Odd numbered rows are the wrong side of the work, even numbered rows are the right side of work.
Step 1. Sl st in next 4sts (size mini), 6sts (size medium).
Step 2. The ws will be facing, and the working yarn will be on the top right of you. Fold the piece in half lengthwise by taking the left side and folding it under. (reference photo below).

The 2 rings and sides should be evenly aligned, and the working yarn should face you on the top right of the folded piece (reference photo below).

Step 3. Working across remaining sts (through both layers), sc the two sides together (remember to skip 4/6 sts on the back layer, so it’s joined together evenly), turn.

Step 4. Sl st across, making sure to leave the last 4/6 sts un-joined, do not join to the ring, fasten off and weave in loose end.
Side 2
With the long beginning tail you saved earlier, repeat instructions from side 1 (the piece will already be folded in half, so disregard Step 2)
Turn your bag right side out, your new bag is complete, enjoy!!

I’ve made five of these bags. One for myself and the rest as gifts. They are so cute. I get compliments on mine (which was just my practice bag and not perfect) everywhere I go! I used t-shirt yarn for my bag, and for the rest I used two strands of Recycled Ribbon yarn by Hobbii. I also used bamboo bag handles from Hobbii. Thank you so much for this pattern!
