Yarn Suggestions For The Butterfly Band Crochet Ear Warmer Pattern

The Butterfly Band Ear Warmer Pattern is written using size 6 super bulky yarn. The original sample used Michael’s Brand Loops & Threads Cozy Wool (now discontinued). A great substitute is Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick.

For colors similar to those shown in the photos throughout, I recommend Fisherman, Grey Marble, and Claret.

Below are the suppliers I recommend:

Yarn Alternatives

You’re welcome to experiment with different yarns, just keep in mind that your gauge may vary depending on the fiber content and thickness. Many size six super bulky yarns should work well with this pattern.

Sizing For The Butterfly Band Crochet Ear Warmer Pattern

The Butterfly Band Ear Warmer Pattern is offered in two sizes.

3-10 Years – Fits Head Circumference 19-20.5 Inches, Band Width 3.5 Inches
Adult One Size Fits Most – Fits Head Circumference 21-23 Inches, Band Width 4 Inches

Sizes are approximate based on the average for each age. When available, please use head measurements, rather than age, as children and adult heads tend to vary quite a bit. If your child is between sizes, I recommend going with the larger size to allow the most room for growth.

Special Stitches

Back Hump or Bump of a Chain
The back hump (also known as the back bump) is located on the backside of a crochet chain. While the front of the chain looks like a row of “V” shapes, with a front and back loop, the back features a small bump or bar behind each “V”. To locate the back hump or bump slightly rotate the chain or chains toward you.

Invisible join
After completion of the last stitch of the round, fasten off. With a tapestry needle, weave tail end under both loops of the first stitch of the round. Next, weave through the back loop only of the last stitch of the round. Weave in tail.
