It’s that time of year again, and I’m excited to share The Ultimate Guide to Faux Plant Sources Winter 2025!
Winter is my favorite season to source faux plants and trees to pair with my crochet planter cover patterns. This year brings some fresh styles alongside a few updated classics, giving us plenty of new looks to choose from.
Faux plants have always been popular sellers on Etsy, at markets, and in shops, both for me and for many of my crochet maker friends. During the holiday season, they become even more sought-after.
Adding a crochet cover to an otherwise boring or unfinished pot or planter creates an entirely new piece that works up quickly, is interchangeable, and perfect to add to your Christmas and Winter decor!
Below I’ve curated a list of some of my favorite Winter planter finds, along with a complete list of crochet planter patterns to fit around them.
Bonus: Several of these planter patterns are already free on the blog!

Where To Find The Best Faux Plant Sources Winter 2025
Winter is here, and it’s the perfect time to focus on seasonal faux plants! Below is a guide on where to find the best Faux Plant Sources Winter 2025
Keep in mind that availability changes every year, especially for seasonal items. Stores adjust their inventory based on demand, so you may not always find the exact items pictured in my posts.
Some seasonal items don’t return the following year, which is why I aim to create a fresh guide each season with my updated finds.

Over the years, I’ve discovered several reliable sources for faux trees and plants. My go-to stores are typically Ikea, Target, and Michaels, and occasional finds at Hobby Lobby and Walmart. I love Ikea, Target, and Michaels the most because they consistently carry the sizes I use, have on-trend styles, and offer great prices.
This year the winter line-up was a bit slim, and I didn’t find many standout options at Michaels. As a result, this guide will focus mainly on Ikea and Target.
Important Notes
– This is a guide to help you find what I’ve used in the past, therefore there is no guarantee you’ll be able to source these exact items.
– Links change frequently making it hard to keep everything up to date. Therefore, I may not be able to link everything.
– If you’re not seeing a tree or plant listed below, that you’ve seen me use in the past, it’s because it’s no longer available, discontinued, etc. See Blog Posts Here For Spring & Fall Planter Sources.
Reference each individual pattern below to see which faux plant I recommend.
Target Faux Plant Sources Winter 2025
The Hearth and Hand collection at Target has been a favorite of mine over the years. Each year they come out with something new and trendy. The price point can be a little steep, but the quality is usually pretty good.
This year I found these adorable potted trees that come in four sizes. I purchased the size small tree below and used it with The Chunky Crochet Plant Pot Covers (Sweaters) coming FREE to the blog Monday 11/17!!

The Threshold & Room Essentials collection at Target is also a favorite of mine. They’re affordable and the base they use fit my crochet covers nicely.
Every winter they come out with cute seasonal designs, but it’s already November 13th, and I haven’t seen any new plants yet this year.
Below are some styles I found back in 2024 and I’m hoping something similar comes in stock soon. My suggestion is to keep checking online or in person, as the usually come up with a similar version of these every year.
The great thing with Target, is they have an amazing return policy, so even if you order them online, it’s very easy to return if they aren’t to your liking.

Ikea Faux Plant Sources Winter 2025
Ikea offers a fantastic selection of faux plants through the Fejka line, which I highly recommend.
During the holidays, they release adorable seasonal plants and trees, usually labeled under the Vinter or Vinterfint lines. I love Ikea for their affordability and large inventory, and if you don’t have a store nearby, many items can be ordered online in certain areas.
This year Ikea’s Christmas trees where the same as last year. A bit bushier and a brighter green, than they have been in the past, but they still look adorable once they’re dressed up in a little crochet cover!
As in past years, I often use the Fejka 3.5” size for most of my patterns, though the mini 2.25” size is also a favorite for smaller projects. They also have this amazing poinsettia in their larger 4.75″ sizes.

Below are the mini faux Christmas plant styles and the small faux Christmas plant styles. Most of my planter patterns pair perfectly with these styles, but be sure to reference each individual pattern below to see which faux plant I recommend.

Screw on & Wooden Tags
I recently created a blog post on the different crochet tags I use. The full post with extensive detail can be found here.
– For my logo tags, I used Ultrasuede, screw on, custom logo tags from: Angie & Britt, they also offer some fun seasonal designs.
– The seasonal screw on tags are vegan leather from Savlabot, I also get the little wooden rounds from her. (shown below)
– The sew on wooden logo tags are from Grain Deep, on Etsy.
– You’ll also need Chicago Screws to attach the tags.

Crochet Planter Patterns
I currently have FIVE crochet planter patterns, which are interchangeable with the faux plants I shared above. All of my planter patterns feature Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick yarn.
Pattern 055 – The Pirouette Planter
This Pirouette Planter is my most popular crochet planter pattern!
The mini Christmas trees are what really brought this pattern to light, and it’s such a quick one to work up. My favorite plants to use are the Fejka brand from Ikea.
This pattern comes in size mini, small, and large.
The size shown below is:
Mini – Featuring the mini tree from Ikea, linked above.

Pattern 078 – The Posh Planter
This Posh Planter is the sister to the Pirouette Planter pattern. A few small changes and you get a slightly different look.
Definitely a favorite of mine! My favorite plants to use are the Fejka brand from Ikea, and The Threshold or Room Essentials line from Target. This pattern comes in size mini and regular.
I haven’t work up any Christmas-themed planter covers with this pattern, but The Ikea and Target Christmas collections from The Faux Plant Sources Winter 2025, listed above, will both work well.

Pattern 053 – Chunky Planter Sweaters
This is the first planter pattern I created, years ago! My favorite plants to use are the Fejka brand from Ikea. This pattern comes in size mini, small, and large.
The mini cactus and tree is from Ikea, the small tree is from Target’s Hearth and Hand collection (shared above). The large Christmas arrangement I beleive has been discontinued, but you may be able to find a similar option or make your own using floral picks from any craft store.

Pattern 080 – The Feathery Planter Pattern
This Feathery Planter is such a fun unique design. The crochet stitch offers amazing, chunky stitch definition.
The Target Hearth and Hand collection of faux plants work best with this pattern, but I used the Ikea small Christmas trees and they look adorable!
This pattern comes in size mini, small, medium, and large. The size shown below is small.

Pattern 085 – The Herringbone Planter Pattern
This Herringbone Planter is another unique design, as It features the herringbone half double crochet stitch, which is a fun variation of the traditional half double crochet.
The Target Hearth and Hand faux plant collection as well as the Fejka brand from Ikea, both work well with this pattern.
This pattern comes in size mini, small, and large, the sizes shown below are both small.
I didn’t work anything up for Christmas, using this design, but it’s completely interchangeable with the Faux Plant Sources Winter 2025, listed above. Try the small Tree from Ikea, it will look amazing!!
