If you’re looking for a quick and cute crochet project, you’re going to love this crochet daisy flower appliqué pattern. It’s simple to make, beginner-friendly, and can be used in so many different ways—from adding a decorative touch to your home to creating fun accessories.
I originally designed this daisy to pair with my crochet towel holder patterns, where it fits right around the button so you can easily swap out different flowers for each season. But the more I made them, the more I realized how versatile they really are.
You can turn these daisies into garland, add them to baskets or planters, use them as bag charms, or even create bookmarks and headbands. It’s one of those patterns you’ll find yourself coming back to again and again.

Ways To Use The Crochet Daisy Flower Appliqué
The Daisy Flower Appliqué was designed to pair perfectly with my crochet towel holder patterns:
– The Button Closure Crochet Towel Holder
– The Original Crochet Towel Holder Pattern
The center of the daisy is intentionally left slightly open so it can slide right over the button on the Button Tab Towel Holder, making it easy to remove or swap out for different flowers.
When using the daisy with the towel holder, choose a round button approximately ¾–1 inch in diameter instead of the toggle-style button listed in the towel holder pattern.
When attaching the button, leave a small amount of space between the button and the towel holder so the flower can easily slide on and off, and be sure the button is securely sewn to withstand repeated use.
If you prefer my Original Towel Holder Pattern (with two rings), you can:
– Sew the flower directly onto the holder (this will not be removable), or
– Sew a round button onto the front of the holder and attach the flower around the button as described above.
Although the daisy was designed with towel holders in mind, it can also be used for many other projects.
Ideas include:
– decorative garland (string onto twine)
– decorating baskets
– embellishing planters
– bag charms(attach a keyring or clip—I love adding them to my Round Handle Crochet Bag)
– creating bookmarks (add a crocheted chain stem)
– embellishing hats or headbands

Yarn Suggestions For The Crochet Daisy Flower Appliqué
The Daisy Appliqué pattern was designed using two strands of worsted weight cotton yarn held together.
Cotton yarn is recommended when using the daisy on kitchen items such as towel holders. However, the flower can be made using many different fibers depending on how you plan to use it.
My preferred yarn for this project is Lion Brand Made With Love – The Cottony One. Although it is not 100% cotton, it works nicely for this design since the flower does not need to withstand heat. I used the colors Gold Medal, Lychee White, and Olive Twist.
Below are the suppliers I recommend:

Alternative Yarn Suggestions
You’re welcome to experiment with different yarns. Keep in mind that the finished size and thickness may vary depending on the fiber content and yarn weight. The daisy can easily be made in different sizes by adjusting the yarn and hook used. For kitchen items, I recommend cotton yarn, but other fibers may work well depending on the project.
Sizing For The Crochet Daisy Flower Appliqué
The Daisy Flower Appliqué comes in one finished size. Approximately 3.5 inches across at the widest point, or about 5 inches across including the leaves.
The size of the daisy can easily be adjusted by changing the yarn weight and hook size.
– For a smaller daisy, try using one strand of worsted weight yarn with a slightly smaller hook.
– For a larger daisy, try using a super bulky yarn with a larger hook.
The sample below compares two strands of worsted weight yarn versus one strand. I used a 5mm hook with two strands and a 4.5mm hook with one strand. With one strand, the flower measured approximately 3 inches across at the widest point, or about 4 inches across including the leaves.

Written Instructions For The Crochet Daisy Flower Appliqué
Flower Center – Color A
– Use two strands of worsted weight cotton held together.
If attaching around a button
Rnd 1. Create a magic circle, ch1, work 10sc in circle. (10sc)
Tighten the magic circle slightly, leaving enough space to fit over the button. Join with invisible join method and weave in ends.

If not attaching around a button
Rnd 1. Create a magic circle, ch1, work 10hdc in circle. (10hdc)
Pull the magic circle completely closed, join with invisible join method and weave in ends.
Petals – Color B
– Attach Color B in beg st from rnd 1 by inserting hook into the st and pulling up a loop.
Rnd 2. Ch3. In each st around work (2tr, ch3, slst, ch3) to create a petal. In the last st work (2tr, ch3, slst). (10 petals total)
Fasten off and weave in ends securely.

Leaves – Color C
– Attach Color C to the backside near the base of a petal by inserting your hook under the loops between two petals (these are not stitches, just loops from the flower construction), then pull up a loop.
– Photos are shown from the backside of the flower to demonstrate proper placement. Make sure the right side of the flower is facing you before beginning.
In the same loops you inserted your hook into, work:
(ch2, dc, 2tr, ch2p, 2tr, dc, ch2, slst) to form a leaf.
Fasten off and weave in ends, then repeat on the opposite side of the flower to create a second leaf.
Note: The leaf should sit flat against the back of the flower. If you can see the yarn pulling through to the front, or the leaf feels loose or floppy, adjust your placement slightly closer to the base of the petals. When weaving in your ends, you can also use the yarn tails to help secure the leaf in place if needed.
