First 3 Rounds in Pattern = 4.25 Inches with L Hook

Invisible Join
After completion of the last stitch of the round, fasten off. With a tapestry needle, weave tail end under both loops of the second stitch of the round. Next, weave through the back loop only of the last stitch of the round. Weave in tail.

7-Loop Puff Stitch (ps)
Crochet puff stitches are a series of unfinished half double crochet stitches that are worked together. For this tutorial, we’re going to use 3 half double crochets to create our puff stitch.

Tip: Work with loose tension and pull loops up to the height of the working row.

Step 1: Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook)
Step 2: [Yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop]2x (7 loops on hook)
Step 3: Yarn over and pull through all seven loops on hook.

Chain One Space (ch1-sp)
A chain space is the space/gap in your work that is created by making a chain. The space is located below the chain.  Normally, you’d insert your hook into the front and back loops of the stitch, but when you work into a chain space, you insert your hook into the space underneath the chain.

Notes
– Beg chs do not count as st, work 1^st st in same st as ch1.

Base

Rnd 1. Create a magic circle, ch2, work 10hdc in circle, join with sl st. (10hdc)
Rnd 2. Ch1, 2 hdc in each st around, join with sl st. (20hdc)
Rnd 3. Ch1, *hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st, repeat from * around, join with sl st. (30hdc)

Sides

Rnd 4. Ch1, *ps in next st, ch1, sk next st, repeat from * around, join with sl st in 2^nd ch1. (15ps, 15chs)
The basket may seem a little misshapen after rnd 4, the shape will come together on the next rnd.

Notes
– When working the sc into the skipped st on rnd 5, pull loops up to the height of the working row.
– The ps will pop out on the opposite side of your work, push them forward as you complete rnd 5.

Rnd 5. Ch1, sc in same st as ch1, *sc in skipped hdc from rnd 3, sk ps, sc in ch1-sp, repeat from * around, ending with a sc in last skipped st, do not join. (30sc)

Rnd 6. Sl st around, fasten off using the invisible join method. (30sl st)
