Have you been following along with The Crochet Basket Series? We’re on basket #6, The Crochet Peg Board Basket Pattern! If you made pattern #4, The Little Handle Basket, this one will be a breeze, as It uses the exact same techniques, just different stitch counts and one less handle.
The Crochet Peg Board Basket Pattern is rated advanced beginner, and worked with two strands of Lion Brand Wool Ease held together. The mini basket has a small handle on one side, and can easily be hung on a peg board, to hold odds and ends.
In the written and video instructions you’ll learn how to increase, work in the round, create a handle, and adjust the length. This handy crochet basket is available in two convenient sizes, perfect for hanging or displaying on a flat surface.
Let’s get started on The Crochet Peg Board Basket Pattern!
Styling Ideas for The Crochet Peg Board Basket Pattern
The Crochet Peg Board Basket Pattern looks amazing hanging on a Peg Board. I especially love this modern peg board I found on Amazon. It comes in small rectangular pieces that you can build upon.
The bottom of the baskets are flat, so they also sit nicely on a flat surface. Add a few to your desk to hold supplies.

Yarn
The Crochet Peg Board Basket Pattern is written using size 6 super bulky yarn (two strands held together). I prefer Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick. The colors shown are Fisherman, Fossil, Grey Marble, and Wheat.
Below are the suppliers I recommend:
Lion Brand Yarns
Amazon or Like To Know It (LTK)
Yarn Alternatives
Secondly, as my yarn choice for The Crochet Peg Board Basket Pattern is Cover Story™ Lazy Days Thick & Quick® Yarn (two strands held together).
– The gauge is just slightly smaller than 2 strands of Lion Brand Wool Ease T&Q held together.
Below are the suppliers I recommend:
Lion Brand Yarns
Amazon or Like To Know It (LTK)
Feel free to experiment with other yarns, but please note the gauge may turn out slightly smaller or larger depending on what you use. The best way to create a sturdy basket is to use a nice thick yarn and tight stitch.
Screw on Tags
I recently created a blog post on the different crochet tags I use. The full post with extensive detail can be found here.
– For The Crochet Peg Board Basket Pattern, I used Ultrasuede, screw on, custom logo tags from: Angie & Britt.
– I’ve also used tags from Savlabot & Grain Deep, in the past.
– You’ll also need Chicago Screws to attach the tags.

Special Stitches
Special Stitch: No-Cut Join Method
Instead of joining the end of a round with a slip stitch, remove hook from loop. Insert hook from back to
front under both bars of first stitch of round. Put loop back onto hook and draw through to the back. Pull
loop tightly to draw stitches together, then pull working yarn to draw loop back to usual size.

Chain Space (ch-sp)
A chain space is the space/gap in your work that is created by making a chain. The space is located below the chain. Normally you’d insert your hook into the front and back loops of the stitch, but when you work into a chain space you insert your hook into the space underneath the chain.
Tips & Tricks
The key to having a sturdy basket it to create a very tight stich by using a small hook in comparison to the yarn size. The completed basket should be very sturdy, yet flexible. Over time it can become misshaped. You can easily re-shape with your hands. I also find it helpful to form it around a heavy bowl about the same size, then remove the bowl to reveal a nice, new, even shape.
