Uses For The Rainbow Crochet Glasses Case Pattern

The Rainbow Crochet Glasses Case Pattern is designed to perfectly fit eyeglasses or a chunky pair of sunglasses, but it’s also incredibly versatile! The sturdy construction makes it a practical and stylish way to keep your everyday essentials organized—whether you’re at home or on the go.

Here are a few of my favorite ways to use it:

  • Crochet on-the-go pouch — perfect for holding a few hooks, scissors, and a tapestry needle
  • Makeup essentials case — great for Chapstick, lipstick, and a compact
  • Discreet storage pouch — ideal for keeping personal or hygiene items tucked away
  • Mini bag or clutch — use it as a small clutch or crossbody bag (see alternative yarn options below for a slightly larger size)

Yarn Suggestions For The Crochet Sunglasses Holder Pattern

The Rainbow Crochet Sunglasses Holder Pattern is made using Bernat Maker, a size 5 bulky, tube-style yarn with a cotton outer layer and a nylon core. This yarn creates a sturdy yet soft structure that’s perfect for holding your sunglasses or glasses.

You’ll need four colors total — a small amount of each for the rainbow (approximately 16 yards total), and about 40 yards for the main color.

Yarn Alternatives

Feel free to experiment with different size 5 yarns when working up the Rainbow Crochet Glasses Case Pattern. Just keep in mind that your gauge may vary slightly depending on the yarn you choose, which can affect the final size. I recommend using a soft fiber to help protect your lenses from scratches.

I also tested this pattern using two strands of Bernat Maker and one strand of Lion Brand Cover Story™ Lazy Days Thick & Quick® Yarn and I loved the results! they were a bit larger and denser. The finished piece turned out slightly larger and more structured—perfect for using as a small clutch. I even added a strap to turn it into a cute crossbody bag.

Sizing For The Rainbow Crochet Glasses Case Pattern

The pattern is offered in two sizes. To make the larger crossbody style, use two strands of the Bernat Maker held together, or switch to Lion Brand Cover Story™ Lazy Days Thick & Quick® Yarn.

Blocking is not required; however, a light steam may help the piece lay a bit nicer.
