The Ultimate Guide to Faux Plant Sources Fall 2024

I’m excited to share this amazing line-up of Faux Plant Sources Fall 2024! Every season I search high and low for the best faux florals and plants to pair with my crochet planter cover patterns, and this year, I found the cutest florals in amazing Fall colors!

Faux plants are a popular seller on Etsy, at markets, and in brick and mortar shops. The addition of a crochet planter cover adds a bit of warmth and texture, and dresses up an otherwise ordinary, planter pot or vase. They’re also a quick project, interchangeable, and work great for low light situations and those without a green thumb.

Continue below as I share a beautiful, curated list of my favorite Fall finds, and a full list of crochet planter patterns.

Bonus: several of the planter patterns are already free on the blog!!

Where to get the best faux plants!

Fall is here, so I’ll be focusing on Fall faux plants. Each year availability changes, especially for seasonal items. Please keep in mind that stores change their items depending on demand and availability. Seasonal items sometimes don’t return the following year, therefore, you may not always be able to replicate what you see in my photos. My goal is to create a new blog post seasonally, with my updated finds for that year.

Over the years, I’ve found several tried and true Faux Plant Sources. My go to places for trees and plants are typically Ikea, Target, and Michaels. I’ve also found a few trees at Hobby Lobby and Walmart, but I find Ikea, Target, and Michaels are more consistent with up to date styles, the sizes I like to use, and I also love their prices.

Notes:
– This is a guide to help you find what I’ve used in the past, therefore there is no guarantee you’ll be able to source these exact items.
– Links change frequently making it hard to keep everything up to date. Therefore, I may not be able to link everything.
– If you’re not seeing a tree or plant listed below, that you’ve seen me use in the past, it’s because it’s no longer available, discontinued, etc. Christmas will be on a post later this year.

Reference each individual pattern below to see which faux plant I recommend.

Michaels Plant Sources

I love the variety I found at Michaels this season. Their Fall colors are spectacular, and they have a huge selection in their 2024 line-up.

I especially loved the cute ball vase shown below. They come in this beautiful variation of Fall colors, and are the perfect size to wrap a cute crochet cover around! For the look shown below, I used The Posh Planter (free pattern here). I followed the size small, but went up to an M crochet hook, and added one extra round of waistcoat stitches. The cover stretched snugly around the vase.

Another great find at Michaels this Fall, are their floral stems and picks. I found several stems, that I used in the Fall Crochet Pumpkin Wreath shown below.

Target Plant Sources

The Threshold collection at Target is one of my favorites. They’re affordable and the base they use, fit my crochet covers nicely.  They come out with new styles each year, some are seasonal and some work great year round. I would say it’s better to look at these in person, as some styles aren’t as realistic as others.

The cute faux grass shown below is one of my favorites! They had it in their line-up last year, and I used The Posh Planter (free pattern here), in the size regular, to cover it.

Below are some new styles I found online for 2024, but I have yet to see them in person. As I said before, some aren’t always as realistic in person. The great thing with Target, they have an amazing return policy, so even if you order them online, it’s very easy to return if they aren’t to your liking.

Another style I love from Target is The Hearth and Hand Line. I haven’t seen any specific styles for Fall this year, but I’ve included some great year round options below.

Ikea Plant Sources

Ikea has a huge selection of plants under their Fejka line. I love Ikea for affordability and their large inventory. If you don’t have an Ikea nearby, they do accept online orders in certain areas. I didn’t find any specific Fall plants that stood out to me this year, but you can always dress up their everyday planters with Fall yarn and a cute Fall tag.

As recommended previously, I use the Fejka 3 ½” size in most of my patterns, but also love the mini 2 ¼” size. Below are some styles I’ve used previously. Most of my planter patterns use this style planter, but please reference each individual pattern below to see which faux plant I recommend.

Screw on Tags

I recently created a blog post on the different crochet tags I use. The full post with extensive detail can be found here.

– For my logo tags, I used Ultrasuede, screw on, custom logo tags from: Angie & Britt
– The seasonal screw on tags are vegan leather from Savlabot (shown below)
– The sew on wooden logo tags are from Grain Deep, on Etsy.
– You’ll also need Chicago Screws to attach the tags.

Crochet Planter Patterns

I currently have FIVE crochet planter patterns, which are interchangeable with the faux plants I shared above. All of my planter patterns feature Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick yarn.

Pattern 055 – The Pirouette Planter

This Pirouette Planter is my most popular crochet planter pattern! I think the mini Christmas trees are what really brought this pattern to light. My favorite plants to use are the Fejka brand from Ikea. This pattern comes in size mini, small, and large. The sizes shown below are mini and small.

Pattern 078 – The Posh Planter

This Posh Planter is the sister to the Pirouette Planter pattern. A few small changes and you get a slightly different look. Definitely a favorite of mine! My favorite plants to use, are the Fejka brand from Ikea, The Threshold line from Target, or the new ball vases from Michael’s, that I recommended above. This pattern comes in size mini and regular.

Pattern 053 – Chunky Planter Sweaters

This is the first planter pattern I created. My favorite plants to use are the Fejka brand from Ikea. This pattern comes in size mini, small, and large. The sizes shown below are mini and small.

Pattern 080 – The Feathery Planter Pattern

This Feathery Planter is such a fun unique design. The crochet stitch offers amazing, chunky stitch definition. The Target Hearth and Hand collection of faux plants work best with this pattern. This pattern comes in size mini, small, medium, and large, The size shown below is small.

Pattern 085 – The Herringbone Planter Pattern

This Herringbone Planter is another unique design, as It features the herringbone half double crochet stitch, which is a fun variation of the traditional half double crochet. The Target Hearth and Hand faux plant collection as well as the Fejka brand from Ikea, both work well with this pattern. This pattern comes in size mini, small, and large, The sizes shown below are both small.
