How To Style Your Crochet Witch Hat Garland For Halloween

Below is an example of how I styled the Crochet Witch Hat Garland around a fireplace mantel.

I used small command hooks in each corner of the mantel to secure the twine. Simply tie a knot around the hook. I like to create a nice drape by hanging one garland slightly lower than the other. You can also drape them around a mirror, shelf, or window using the same technique.

Yarn Suggestions For The Crochet Witch Hat Garland

The Crochet Witch Hat Garland is crocheted with Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick. This is a size 6, super bulky yarn. The color shown is Black.

Below are additional suppliers I recommend:

Lion Brand Yarn
Amazon or Like To Know It (LTK)

Yarn Alternatives

Feel free to experiment with different size 6 yarns or two strands of size 5 yarn held together, but please note the gauge may turn out slightly smaller or larger depending on the yarn you use.

If you change the yarn size of the project, be sure to adjust your hook size accordingly; you don’t want large gaps in your hats.

Embellishments For The Crochet Witch Hat Garland

Feel free to get creative with your embellishments.

For The Crochet Witch Hat Garland shown below, I used a mix of ribbons and seasonal floral picks. You can easily snip the individual flowers and leaves off larger picks with wire cutters, and then attach them with hot glue.

Most of the embellishments I used are from Michaels, but you can find similar options at most craft stores or online at Amazon, Walmart, Michael’s, etc. You can shop my LTK affiliate link here.

Sizing For The Crochet Witch Hat Garland

The garland length is fully customizable. I made five witch hats, and the garland fit perfectly on my fireplace mantle, which measures 45 inches long. When measuring the twine length, cut it several feet longer than you need, to allow room for drape and hanging.

Please be sure to check your gauge before starting, as tension can vary greatly from person to person and depending on the yarn used.

Written Instructions For The Crochet Witch Hat Garland

– Beg ch of each rnd does not count as st, work 1st st in same st as beg ch.
– Join each rnd with sl st in beg hdc/sc.
– Create 5 hats total, or desired amount to complete your garland.

Note:
The first round or two may feel a bit tedious due to the narrow pointed shape at the top of the hat. This is completely normal and will become more comfortable as you continue working through the pattern.

Adding The Witch Hats To Twine

Take a long piece of twine (approximately 80 inches) and thread the witch hats on using a tapestry needle. I thread through the very top of the hats, under a small piece of yarn. Adjust the spacing as desired.
