This crochet pumpkin wreath is an easy way to add handmade texture to your fall décor. It combines a simple wreath base with crochet pumpkins, greenery, and seasonal accents that you can customize to match your own style.

Use any greenery, ribbon, leaves, or other fall embellishments you already have on hand—the finished wreath can be as simple or as full as you’d like.

Crochet Pumpkin Wreath Sizing
The crochet pumpkin wreath shown is made with an 18″ grapevine wreath.
The finished wreath measures approximately 25–30″ across at the widest point, including the greenery and embellishments. This size works well for a standard front door.
You can use a smaller or larger wreath form if you prefer—just adjust the number and placement of pumpkins and embellishments to fit your wreath.
✂️ Materials & Supplies Needed
Gather your wreath base, pumpkins, and favorite fall embellishments before you begin:
- Wreath Base: 18″ Grapevine Wreath or desired size
- Floral Picks & Faux Greenery: Approximately 8 different floral picks
- Floral Wire: For securing greenery, pumpkins, and embellishments
- Tools: Wire Cutters and Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun: Helpful for attaching smaller embellishments, but optional
- Pumpkins: Crochet, knit, or pre-made pumpkins in a variety of sizes, colors, and textures
- Optional Embellishments: Faux spiders, skeleton hands, skulls, ribbon, leaves, or other seasonal accents
You can use any combination of greenery and embellishments you like. I used about eight different floral picks—most were inexpensive finds from Dollar Tree, with a few from Michaels. The glitter spiders were clip-on decorations, and I spray-painted a few silver spiders gold to match the rest of the wreath. The video below shows the greenery and embellishments in more detail.
Pumpkin Patterns Used for the Wreath
For the pumpkins shown on the wreath, I used two free patterns from the blog.
Mini Ribbed Crochet Pumpkin Pattern
The Mini Ribbed Pumpkin is easy to customize, so I made several different sizes for the wreath. The two larger pumpkins use the same stitch count as the original pattern, while the smaller versions were made with fewer beginning chains and rows.
Knitting Machine Pumpkin Pattern
I also used a small knitting machine pumpkin for extra variety. If you don’t have a knitting machine, simply make another Mini Ribbed Crochet Pumpkin instead. For the machine-knit version, I used approximately 30 rounds and followed the remaining finishing instructions as written.

Yarn Used for the Pumpkin Wreath
I used a mix of yarns and colors to give the pumpkins different textures. The individual pumpkin patterns linked above include additional yarn alternatives if you’d like to substitute what you already have on hand.
- Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick — Mustard and Fall Leaves
- Yarn Bee XXL Cotton — discontinued, but included here for reference
- Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek — Tobacco, used for the mini machine-knit pumpkin
Mixing different fibers and yarn weights is a simple way to add more texture and variation to the finished wreath.

How to Assemble the Crochet Pumpkin Wreath
- Start by adding your floral picks and greenery to the grapevine wreath. I used about eight picks and concentrated most of them along the left side, layering the stems to create a fuller look.
- Tuck the ends of the stems securely between the grapevines. Mine stayed in place without glue, but you can trim longer stems with wire cutters and secure them with hot glue if needed.
- Next, add any smaller embellishments. My glitter spiders have alligator clips on the back, so I simply clipped them into the greenery. If your decorations don’t have clips, attach them with a small amount of hot glue or floral wire.
- To attach the pumpkins, thread floral wire through the bottom of each pumpkin with a tapestry needle. Arrange the pumpkins on the wreath before securing them, then feed the wire through the grapevine and twist it together on the back.
- Try to hide the floral wire underneath the greenery as you work. Once everything is secure, adjust the florals and pumpkins until you’re happy with the placement.
Your crochet pumpkin wreath is ready to hang and enjoy throughout the fall season.
Turn Your Fall Pumpkin Wreath Into a Halloween Wreath
For Halloween, add removable skeleton hands, a skull, or other spooky accents to give the wreath a completely different look for October.
I attach the skeleton pieces with floral wire using the same method shown in the video and written instructions below. Because they aren’t permanently attached, they’re easy to add and remove without changing the rest of the wreath.
I usually display the pumpkin wreath throughout September, add the Halloween pieces around October 1st, then remove them after Halloween and continue using the wreath through Thanksgiving.
Similar skeleton hands, skulls, and Halloween embellishments can usually be found in seasonal décor and craft stores.
